What are Abilities in Black Myth Wukong?
Abilities are skills that players can perform to either aid them in combat or exploration. We've already seen some of the abilities that Sun Wukong possesses in Black Myth: Wukong based on gameplay footage from the demo, but specific details about all the abilities were not extensively detailed. Listed below are some of the abilities that have been showcased so far:
- Shapeshift: Sun Wukong can take the form of some defeated enemies. So far there have been 4 confirmed transformations, a humble cicada, a massive gray feline, an unnamed fiery martial artist, and a creature covered in rock and mud. In the novel, Sun Wukong can take the form of over 70 distinct creatures, but this would highly be impractical and difficult to implement in the game, so we'll only probably see some of them make it into the final game.
- The Pluck of Many: Sun Wukong can create clones by plucking his hair and blowing it into the air. This ability has many practical uses in combat and can be used to overwhelm an opponent, distract them, or use the clones to take the hit and step away from combat momentarily to recover.
- Immobilize: Sun Wukong can freeze opponents by turning them into stone, making them vulnerable and open to attacks for a few seconds.
- Stone Solid: Sun Wukong can take the form of a stone and freeze himself in place to absorb enemy attacks, when timed precisely as the enemy attack hits, it will stagger the enemy, allowing you to perform a counterattack and deal massive damage.
- Ring of Fire: Sun Wukong can cast a ring of fire around him. Though it's unclear what this ability's main purpose is, it seems to work on scaring off some enemies or bosses and makes them hesitate to approach you. There's also an interaction where if you drink a healing gourd inside the ring of fire, it'll be more effective in restoring your HP, compared to when you drink it outside of the ring of fire.
